Echi di Puglia offers you a free excursion among the fairy-tale millenary olive trees, symbol of the Puglia region. A leap into ancient peasant life, into the noble art of cultivating the land.If you book a minimum stay of 2 nights by March 15th for the period of March or April 2020 you will have the opportunity to visit for free this ancient farmhouse, its millenary olive trees and the ancient underground oil mill.
The offer does not include return transfer.
The ancient Masseria Brancati, from generation to generation, tells its own tradition of the Apulian olive oil, from the olive harvest, passing through the milling up to the extraction of yellow gold, all strictly within its fortified walls. To protect its treasure from foreign invasions or from raids by local looters, an ancient watchtower rises.
The olive trees rise majestically as far as the eye can see in the countryside, like real sculptures designed over the millennia. All rigorously labeled and carefully preserved by the expert hands of those who live in these lands.
Life inside the farm was lively, on average three to four families lived there. The children roamed the farmyard among the hens and mules while the adult farmers cultivated the vegetable garden, the citrus grove and a small orchard.
There is also a modest eighteenth-century church, with an altar, strictly in Baroque style, made with Lecce stone, a poor, marbled stone.
A museum frames this splendid glimpse of Puglia that was. Inside there are ancient Messapian presses, from the pre-Roman age, for the milling of olives, an underground oil mill and another more recently extraordinarily still in operation.
The tour ends with a taste of virgin and extra virgin olive oils produced by the farm.
